Artist's Description

I did this montage in honour of Peter Cohen (1955-1994). Peter was not only a beautiful soul he was also a terrific artist that lived for his art. He was a terrific platonic flatmate and friend.

This shows only a few of Peter’s art which were all mostly large works (4’x 3’ plus). He worked in all pigments but mainly oils applied with a palette knife in thick layers (impasto) using brushes for fine tuning.

I could say RIP Peter but know he’s just in another dimension painting to his heart’s content. Peter passed away at age 39yrs of a heart attack brought on by combining Lithium and beer. He was on Lithium as a result from the drugs he had been taking since 6 years of age for asthma which, over time, produced psychological problems including depression. Peter also won many awards, mainly in South Australia, for his art.
