Marauding Suburbs

It is a south and western ledge of London
marauding into Surrey like pirates
in brick and slate galleons,
pointing the cannons of their cars
towards the wealthy world
beyond the suburbs
where they would lay their heads
but for the size of salary

To the east
the grim and criminal city
pulses its own assault towards them
as if rippling magma energy,
wave upon wave of molten lava,
threatening all the green world
with its searing stultifying
stone and mortar walls.

this brazen dance of death
where each breath
is lost in the jostle and toss
of grab and plunder.
If you look into the heart of the city
There’s a mould, e number bright,
That nurture’s all the trading floors
And drains the green grass growing ground
of any form of life
