the voice of things by Jose Silva

If I would lock you in my verses
Fragile things that smile,
Pale lily that loses your leaves,
Moon ray over the grass
Of moist flowers, and green leaves
That at the warm blow of May open;

If I would lock you in my verses,
Pale things that smile!
If I could imprison verse,
Gray ghosts that pass,
Moving things of the Universe,
Confused dreams, will be gone by,
Sad oracle, soft and perverse
That among the shadows gives to the soul,

If I could imprison verse
Gray ghosts that pass!
