Artist's Description

At the age of 10 months, we found Cosmo in the local shelter. She was a Pit/hound mix. A lot of the pit personality showed. But she was such a love. Unfortunately she was only 5 when she passed away in Nov 05. It was a very painful death for her but she never let us know she was in pain until it was too late. Cancer took over her body until she was bleeding internally so much we had no choice but to put her out of the misery she was in. :( God Bless you love! I miss you!

This is a shot of Cosmo during her last days. Actually, Cosmo used to insist on holding my hand like this at night when she was laying between my hubby and I in bed when she was falling asleep. We would hold hands while watching TV, etc. I know it sounds weird, but it was her way (I am assuming) of assuring I was still there and not going anywhere. lol It was also a way I used to calm her down at times when she was all wound up or upset, etc. I would make her sit and she would hold my hand until she was calmed down. I know, I know….weird, but it was an attachment I had with her that was so close.

Rest in peace my sweets….I miss you so much.

This was featured in the Rescued Pets Group, Dec 08. Thank you all so much. It means so much to me. :) Hugz to you all!

I thought I would add to this story about how Cosmo came to us! She was 10 months old when we found her in the local shelter. She had been there for months. When we went to find our next pet, it was love at first sight…something pulled me to the very last stall as soon as I entered the rows of cages. There she was. I loved her right off. I went and looked at all the other very needey pets but we ended up right back at her cage. We went thru the steps with taking her outside and making sure we got along, etc. but there was no doubt in our minds and even the guy at the shelter said she was attached already. :)
She had a rough start. She had been beaten and locked in a closet for her first few months of life and needed some special care to let her know that we were there to love her. She never really got over those fears, but then again we didn’t try to lock her in a cage, a closet or anything else. We have the property that she could run and be as free as she wanted. She had a friend 2 houses down that we let her go to play, but she always came home! She loved it here and we loved having her. She was a very special dog to all of us.
