Artist's Description

SAN XAVIER MISSION / A TUCSON PORTRAIT STORY Rising from the desert floor, this stunning Spanish Colonial mission, the brain child of Father Kino in the 17th century, has withstood the test of mother nature allowing neither earthquakes nor strikes of lightening to diminsh its spirits. Many hands largely from the local O’odham community built this marvel and have since witnessed its change of hands over centuries. Walking through the enormous mesquite wooden doors and experiencing the original artisty, a fusion of New Spain and Native American, feels as if one has stepped back in time.
