This Japanese Maple had caught my eye when I was driving one day but, alas, I did not have my camera with me. On the day that I did have the camera it was dull and overcast. Not my favorite light condition. But as is said, he who hesitates is lost, and if I waited for another opportunity the fall color might have passed. So, I took a series of different shots—some of the full tree, but most of just branches or leaf groupings. The thing that was arresting about the tree’s coloring was just how many different colors existed on the same plant.

I wish I could say that the tree actually looked this florescent (or would the term be “opalescent”?) in that lighting. Of course, it didn’t. But I played around with the filters on PhotoShop CS3 and matched the color from a different photograph to intensify the already rainbow like effect.

Now it looks like the tree has become prismatic.
It works for me.
