This fancy double cosmos caught my attention with the way it embraced the afternoon sun and seemed to light up its little spot in the garden. Befitting its purity, this cosmos is only minimally processed, and then I added a very soft and subtle vignette. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/16, 1/400 sec., ISO 200, afternoon sun, handheld)

BEAUTIFUL work,

.
Thank you, Ann!
Her best white party dress – and you have shown it off beautifully, Celeste.
Thanks very much for the great comment, Bette!
Beautifully detailed white in bright light. Excellent work!
White in the sun can be tricky, but as you can see from the shadows, the light wasn’t harsh. Thank you for the lovely compliment, Chris!
Beautiful white and lovely detail highlighted by the sun . .. .a lovely image Celeste . . x
Thank you, Teresa, for the great comment!
Wow, this certainly caught my eye as well! How beautiful! Must add double cosmos to my garden next year! Love you composition and presentation, that yellow center is like a little sun amidst the clouds of white petals!
Many thanks, Joanne! The double cosmos was a new one to me as well, and this garden has tons of cosmos flowers in many locations.
Well, Celeste, This is stunning. The light and shadows on those petals Is just beautiful! The detail and color of that yellow center so striking – as usual, exceptional photography!
Thank you so much, Katherine! This flower was a real eye-catcher among its relatives.
And I find white difficult to capture- You do it with ease and beautifully!
Thank you for dropping by! Yes, white is notoriously difficult, so it takes lots of practice under different lighting conditions to find out what works. If your camera has a histogram feature, learn to use it, as it will tell you whether you have fully exposed the light values without overexposing them.
Wonderful soft shadows and contrasting yellow and white…:o)
Thomas, thanks very much! Yes, the soft shadows are a lot prettier than harsh ones.
