Artist's Description

I was enjoying a sunny winter afternoon at Shoreline Village (Long Beach, California, USA) when I decided to walk down onto one of the docks. I knew from many previous visits that feral cats live among the rocks across the water, just below Parkers’ Lighthouse restaurant. I wasn’t disappointed, as many cats were enjoying the sun. Most or all of these feral cats have been trapped, neutered and released back to their colony. They keep the area clear of rodents and also get fish scraps from the restaurant. No wonder they look so healthy! (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 300mm [600mm in full-frame 35mm equivalent], f/6.3, 1/1250 sec., ISO 100, afternoon sun, handheld)
