Artist's Description

These bright orange circular buds will open into tubular flowers known as Lion’s Tail, a plant native to South Africa and a member of the mint family. The flowers grow in clusters that surround the main stem (upper left). The blur of orange (lower right) is a circle of open flowers below the buds. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 35mm macro, f/8, 1/100 sec., ISO 400, afternoon sun)
