FEATURED in EUROPEAN EVERYDAY LIFE

St-Sauveur Church in Caen (Normandy, France) goes back in part to the 11th c. It was modified in the 14th and 15th c. A new apse was build around 1540.
In the 19th c., after the French revolution, it became a grain market, then a butter market.
It was badly damaged on D-Day during the allied bombings of Caen, and restoration work was begun in the 1980’s.
