Artist's Description

An abandoned homestead cabin stands in dereliction adjacent a field as a cold fog rolls into the central mountains of Colorado. Homesteads were as large as 160 acres back in the 1800s and could be purchased through the government for as little as $16 dollars. The purchaser only had to show improvement to their property by growing food, raising livestock and fencing a section of it within five years of receiving the deed.
