For this I made a very small backdrop of black velvet from a DVD case and added a small round mirror for the quartz to sit on. I used a Kleenex folded in half to diffuse the flash and my tripod was a paperback book. I took roughly 30 shots from different angles, with and without the mirror and using it as a light source instead, using a Kodak EasyShare C813 camera on auto setting with and without flash, and also on the close-up setting with and without flash. I have several that I like but this was the best one showing the bent reflection in the mirror.
I did a small bit of editing in Irfanview, a free program mainly darkening the background more so the quartz would sort of float on the background.
I am going to try more shots of this using a flashlight for a light source and try to zoom in more since this one is a rather small print.
