Artist's Description

I came across these bricks on the floor of a church in Lincolnshire, which had obviously been used as part of a Sunday school lesson for the children of the parish.

I could practically hear the lesson and imagine the faces of the small children being taught that these were the building blocks that we all use to build our own personal prisons from… The building blocks of human misery! The bricks we all use to construct a prison for our minds.

I guess we probably all sat and listened to similar lessons when we were young, no matter what your faith, religion or ethnic origin might be… but sometimes I wonder if we really learned those lessons!

I don’t think so!
