Artist's Description

This terracotta cat has stood on the roof of this house in Greenford for over 80 years. He is of course the symbol of a house building empire – Wimpey Homes, which these days spans the world. But back in George Wimpeys day he would always put one of these cats on the roof of one of the homes in any estate he built.
As a small boy I would pass by this house on my way to school… the cat always seemed to smile back at me. He looks a lot older now and somebody has twisted his tail round, but it’s good to see him still up there!

An old friend!
