Artist's Description

This is the home of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, who is the Queen’s Representative in B.C. Canada. The estate is situated on 35 acres of land, and overlooks the ocean at the back of the house. Beautiful gardens surround this home and the gardens are planted and tended to by 400 volunteer gardeners from the community. Some of the gardens are on steep, rocky terrain and allow for rock gardens that are a treat to the eye. The gardens are very natural looking. The property is also home to many old growth trees, that are native to British Columbia. If you visit Victoria, plan a visit to Government House. It is open to the public and you can wander all over the grounds. There are some wonderful places to sit and enjoy the views. I was very fortunate to have a personal guided tour through the property by my friend who is a member of the volunteer gardening committee.
