Artist's Description

400 years before Columbus discovered America, ancient pueblo indians lived in this area. This site had a small village or apartment houses. These indians were an agricultural people raising small plots of corn, squash and beans. A prolonged drought beginning in 1276 AD is believed to have forced them to move south. These ruins are a mute evidence of their once thriving community. USD1 BLM
