Artist's Description

Created in PSE.

“Leaving on a Jet Plane” is a song written by John Denver in 1966 and most famously recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary. Peter, Paul and Mary were so impressed with the song that they chose to record it themselves and released it on their 1967 Album 1700. Notably, it didn’t become a hit for them until they released it as a single in 1969. It turned out to be Peter, Paul & Mary’s biggest (and final) hit, becoming their only #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. It was the penultimate #1 single of the 1960s.The song also spent three weeks atop the easy listening chart and was used in commercials for United Airlines in the late 1970s. (Info from Wikipedia)

Some of the song Lyrics:

All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go
I’m standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breaking, it’s early morn
The taxi’s waiting, he’s blowin’ his horn
Already I’m so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
‘Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go
