Artist's Description

Nubian Vulture, Torgos tracheliotus, standing in grassland . As a scavenger the head is bald because a feathered head would become spattered with blood and other fluids, and thus be difficult to keep clean. They are the most powerful and aggressive of the African vultures. Also known as the Lappet faced Vulture. Maasai Mara, Masai Mara National Park, Kenya, East Africa. They are vulnerable.
