Artist's Description

Maasai (or Masai) Giraffes, Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi. Males Necking. Male giraffes often engage in necking, which can be to prove dominance or it can be sexual. In young males such as these it is common for the winner of the battle to mount the other to show his sexual dominance. In real battles a giraffe can land a powerful blow with his head occasionally knocking a male opponent down.
Canon 500D, zom lens.
