My Tree

When I gaze up into your branches
I want you to sweep me up
Hold me close and whisper in my ear
Share with me all that you have seen and heard

You are so old and wise and have seen many things
not upset that you lose your leaves leaving so exposed
as you know deep down they will return with a renewed zest
to give you the amour to take on another year

You are exposed to the harshness of the seasons
the heat of the sun in the mid summer
the pelting rain and wild winds
Yet you stand tall unfazed

When there is only you and I
I am at peace and one with nature
breathing in your freshness
forgeting all that is not necessary
and knowing only the truth

For you are all that is true

Oh thank you wise tree
