Artist's Description

Self portrait
of how
this war
has
fractured
me.

My reflection
My self
and the trees above me
as I stand along the Skagit riverbank.

H,

I went fishing with dad yesterday.

I caught a trout!

Which would have been great except that it was a little tiny thing and it was Salmon and Silvers that we were fishing for!

But, hey, it was still exciting as I reeled it in, then a very nice man took my big fish of my hook and very gently released my brave little fish back into the river to fight another day.

Such a nice day we had and we can hardly wait to go fishing with you soon-all of us together-to enjoy the sparkle of light on the water and so we can use your boat and avoid the snags in that darn river !!!

Smile H, because it’s good for you.

I love you.

C

P.S. Soon you will be home and all things will be whole again—and even if they can’t be made to be that way, we will be back together again and that is what is important, everything changes except one thing, I will always be your sister.
