MY BROTHER IS HOME!—THANK GOD AND THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SENT YOUR SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT! HAPPY DAYS!
TIME TO CELEBRATE!
Thank you Kristina
Time now to continue to support those who are deployed and are redeployed—who continue to serve our country—Time to continue to support our brave men and women because even though my brother is home and even though I continue to celebrate my cousin’s son Jason is now in Afghanistan
My brother and Jason, all who serve, you are in my heart, in my prayers always

Day 1 of my Our War series: August 1, 2010
MEDIUM: mixed-media hard pastel, soft pastel, chalk, ink on smooth watercolor paper.
INSPIRATION:
A portrait of a Soldier, pencil, color pencil, pastel chalk pencil portrait by Cara Schingeck
This is the first image of an ongoing series that begins today, August 1, 2010, and continues until my brother’s return from deployment to the Middle East.
For my first war drawing I created this portrait of a United States of America Army Officer/Soldier because I believe that this officer/soldier epitomizes all of our troops in our war.
He is skillful-adept, with special ability, possessing special skills;
He is strict-maintaining discipline, rigorous in ensuring rules are obeyed, precise, exact;
He is unerring-unfailingly accurate and correct;
He is faithful-unwavering in belief, believing firmly in something, consistently loyal, consistently trustworthy and especially to a person, promise or duty.
This portrait shows to all of you who I believe are all of our brave soldiers in our war.

Barbara, thank you for your positive feedback and support of my project, also, I very much appreciate your kind words of support for my brother, I will pass them on to him-I know it will make him feel good to know that you care.
Beautiful work…

Gail and the group, thank you for your comment and for your feature of my artwork…in particular this portrait from my Our War series…a very personal and special work for me. To have others appreciate this piece is a recognition I did not expect or look for but I appreciate very much and I feel as an artist very much humbled by your favorable comment. My Our War series is always for my brother and so even though as an artist I would love to receive your kind and generous words of appreciation of my work it is my brother who has inspired all of my drawings, paintings in this series and without him this series would never have existed. He is the one who deserves all praise, all expressions of praise.
thank you.
Cara

My throat still hurts from my husband’s hands.
How my brother tried to help me to get out of this relationship
How hard he worked, how he sacrificed to help me
