Artist's Description

Mixed media three dimensional wall sculpture encaustic painting-encaustic construct using beeswax, dammar crystals, found objects, wire, powder pigment, acrylic paint on found objects (railroad spikes and wire) oil paint, carnauba wax on birch board

INSPIRATION:
My artwork which is an encaustic construct (a term I created to describe my technique which uses both encaustic painting and the addition of the term “constructs” defined as; to form by assembling or combining parts)
In 2008 I was commissioned by Barefoot Dance Studio in Tacoma, WA for a public art installation.

My responsibility as a conceptual artist was to collaborate with a variety of artists including the choreographer, dancers, performance artists, and story tellers in order to both create an environment that gave the viewer a feeling of the time and to convey through oral history in a dynamic setting the railroad stories from the past.

As a conceptual artist I worked with the choreographer and story tellers to understand further the meanings and atmosphere-environment that my artwork would become the backdrop for their dance, performance and words.
