Artist's Description

The word ‘Torero’ means ‘bull fighter’. My dad once told me a story over the phone of a man he knew named John Fulton. He was an American who moved to Spain, became an artist, and did lots of painting of bull fighters. One day, John Fulton decided to actually become a bull fighter, instead of just painting them. He went on to become one of the best ‘Toreros’ in Spain, despite the fact that the Spanish disliked an American participating in their tradition. I painted ‘Torero’ out of respect for Mr. Fulton, who’s work can still be found though he’s no longer with us.
