“Spaced Out” is the first work completed by The Canvas Butcher as an individual, and is the second work featured in “The Apocalypse Symphony Collection.” It features a Giraffe on a 16 X 20 inch canvas with an assorted array of ink washes and intricate, pinstriped india inks. The bottom of the painting represents the complexity of our earth and it’s physical characteristics, along with the beauty we behold with our naked eye. Within the pinstriping on the bottom of the painting lies a moon in slumber cradled near a crowned infinity insignia, symbolizing the ongoing cycle of physical life in our world. The sky, however, was left simplistic in detail, in the idea that life after our existence here is peaceful, simple, spiritual, and never-ending. The Giraffe reaches his neck towards the sky to symbolize our need to reach enlightenment and peace within ourselves. As he becomes closer to the sky, his neck undergoes a beautiful, zebra striped transformation. The symbol in the top left-hand corner is The Parasol from the Ashtamangala, which is a sign of expansion and learning. This work features an “mwreck2012” insignia in the bottom left-hand corner, and also contains a hidden signature.
