Lazy Secular

Welcome child
To the land of processed meats
And emotions under copyright protection
Beware of scarce resources
And of the foreign man
In the world we’ve concocted
Humanity only lies within these borders
But morality has no limits
As long as everyone is right
Everyone is happy
Fulfillment is a dream
And God is a myth
But of course there’s no relationship there
If my decisions really affect others
Why isn’t someone cold when I
Stand naked in the social blizzard?
“If I am tolerant of everything,
Won’t I have to be tolerant of intolerance, too?”

We’re sorry, but questions inevitably
Lead to answers that are indubitably
The filth of bigots and fundamentalists
We can’t teach you anything
Somebody may be offended
And you can’t get answers
Somebody may be proven right,
And then everyone else who thought differently
Will be wrong. And what if
That makes them feel bad?
That which makes me feel the best
Is that which is best for me.
Wait, no, switch that around.
We run on sensations,
And we hope they aren’t right-protected…
But we don’t hope and pray.
Let’s not get religious about it.
