The Western Meadowlark is one of my favorite birds. It’s song rings out across the prairies. All winter the male keeps quiet, but when spring arrives, he seeks a perch atop a fence post, throws back his head to expose his bright yellow breast and black chevron, opens wide his bill, and begins to sing.

If the song were translated into all the languages of the world, it would sing of peace. Take out the ills and hurts of the world that some think cute and are so insensitive to. It isn’t hard to be kind. Maybe takes a little practice but better to send a good wish that promotes a smile then to be hateful and bring on a tear.

For all those that suffer injustices in this world … let us pray.
