Artist's Description

Young Black-faced Cuckoo-shrikes may be confused with the White-bellied Cuckoo-shrike, Coracina papuenis, which also has a black eye stripe. However, this species is much smaller (26 – 28 cm).
White-bellied Cuckoo-shrikes inhabit the northern and eastern parts of the Australian continent, from the Kimberleys via the northern part of the NT, south of the Gulf of Carpentaria and Cape York, to the eastern parts of QLD, NSW and parts of VIC.
They prefer forested habitats which nowadays makes them most common in the hill ranges. They are grey on the back, the wings are grey with black markings and the underparts are white. Their tail is dark-coloured tipped with white, legs and feet are dark grey and the eyes and bill are black.
Canon 50D, 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS
