Location: Ottawa Canyon in Starved Rock State Park in Utica, Illinois
To me this is what it is all about. I’ll give you a brief self analysis on this one. The corner on the left is dark. The underside of the canyon is dark. I could have made it brighter, but chose against it.
I don’t want every part of the image to be fully exposed. I don’t want every corner lit to match the rest of the image. It is the separation of light and dark to create a mood that I love. I am not always after it, but sometimes I get it, and when I do, I welcome it. Why ruin the mood of an image trying to make everything in the same light.
