Birds ponder

Chirp, chirp, chirping I soar through the air.
For so long it seemed all was grand, I had no fear to fear.
Then they came one day, or so the story is told,
and took away a great portion of this land my ancestor once knew.
I rest upon my favorite tree and sing a mournful song.
The trees all whisper into the light wind,
we all wonder as we sit here, will this ever end?
