Rivers cry

Stars twinkle on a black canvas

as the breeze gentle rustles the leaves

The river sings a mournful song

of memories of long ago

Of greatness it once knew but now can never show.

You’ve robbed me of my beauty! It cries

My life giving flow is fading!

So much life depends on me,

but they now are dieing away.

What can sway the hearts of men?

Why can’t you understand?

Soon I will be nothing more

but a dry desert waste land.
