Artist's Description

This is an image of the Purse Seiner starting to set it’s net. The small skiff (about 19 feet long) is nothing more than a big V8 engine. It’s job is to hold its position while the fishing boat plays out it’s net in a large circle. After the net has been deployed the two will join back up, the skiff operator will hand his end back to the main boat and the bottom of the net will be drawn together forming the purse. After that is accomplished they will haul the net aboard along with the fish they have caught. On this day the fishermen are catching chum salmon which aren’t the best eating fish but have a number of commercial uses such as that salmon flavored cat food you are feeding you cat.
