The Chosen One

The Chosen One:

I actually thought it was my time to go,
while watching my lifeless body below.

My pain was gone when the dark became light,
that’s when I called out to my relatives that night.

They said to return, that it wasn’t time to depart,
for I am the chosen one to save the family’s heart.

As their servant of trust I’m to guide them through,
life’s valleys and crevices, but with happiness too!

They told me of angels that are guarding my back,
One to guide me to riches, one to thwart any attack.

Telling my family to be assured with a nod,
we shall continue to pray to our loving God.

Artist's Description

While feeling my worst during the recovery from my illness and injury, I had a seizure on the bathroom floor. I was unconscious for quite some time, but after I woke up I remember floating above my body looking down at myself. Over a year prior to that night, my aunt and grandmother had passed away within just over a month of each other. Apparently I spoke with them and they told me it was up to me to take care of everyone left in the family.

I really don’t remember if it was a dream or a real out of body experience. In any case, it left a powerful impression. My health has slowly been getting better ever since that occurence, where no other treatment seem to do much. The poem was really the only way I could express the experience.
