Artist's Description

PFC Mulrooney of the United States Marine Corps demonstrates the latest in night vision systems being adopted by the USMC, and soon to be standard issue in the Army and Air Force. Ocular Laser Implants (OLI) is a new system designed for direct implantation. The advantage of this new system over current systems is that the implantee can see clearly by means of a laser shot directly through the eyes. This method, as opposed to light gathering “night-vision” goggles, does not inhibit the user’s peripheral vision or depth of field, resulting in a clearer picture of what is happening around him. The system also has a radio transmitter that allows battlefield commanders to see what the soldier sees.

Either all that, or just a serious case of red-eye. Actually this Marine is a part of the Marine Corps Band getting ready to perform at Christmas In The Park in San Jose.
