Inspired and encouraged by my MUCH more talented, imaginative and lovely wife Cindy, my work largely represents abstractions of reality, and some more explicitly defined fantasy, through colored pencil drawings completed largely on the city buses of Phoenix, some acrylics and photography, digital and film, unaltered and altered, some of which is executed entirely on an iPhone.

Originally started a couple of years ago with my wife as “art therapy”, I learned, experienced, enjoyed more in working six hours with her with better results than in my entire youth of public school and church crafty “art” classes that made me believe it was impossible to achieve anything close to a desired result.

One thing I do find intruiguing about the process is the whole evolution of a finished work, and to some degree how I notice something wonderful in an unfinished work can be lost in continuing the work, so some of what is displayed explicitly intended to show the evolution of the work and can have beauty and value in and of itself.

Though I think much of my work looks like it was completed by a 14 year old girl, let me assure you that I am a male in my mid-40s, a software developer with a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Oklahoma that plays ice hockey, rows crew, flies remote control aircraft, loves both kinds of football (and, actually, that could actually be defined as “country” and “western”), and most importantly, is married to a wonderful, beautiful and brilliant artist.
