On Meeting My Aquaintance

I’ve chanced upon a woman this night;
Spied ‘cross the room she looks just right.
Drap’ed vee of long red hair,
Skin so smooth and purely fair.

I approacheth her at steady pace,
And up to me she turned her face.
Alas, not what I expecteth there;
Not perfect beauty, but merely fair.

Roundish face and widow’s peak.
Volumes doth her eyes so speak.
Nose a little long and wide;
Chin vanisheth when seen from side.

One lip so full the other less,
Short jawline lacks that sleek finesse.
Straight hair falls past, shoulders so plain;
Her eyebrows somewhat crooked lain.

It cannot be all bad because,
Beauty is as beauty does.
Sayeth the wee voice inside my ear;
As I realize ‘tis me in the mirror.
