Artist's Description

I was curious about he few ornate metal crosses that adorn Western Cemeteries, and did a little research. I found that they were often made by German, French or Polish immigrants who had learned how to make them in the old country. Often immigrants from the same countries preferred these simple iron crosses that they knew would stand the test of time over a stone monument. They would go to the smithy, who was often an immigrant like themselves, and have one of these beautiful crosses made for their loved one. I love the stark contrast of the frame they create.
