Artist's Description

A visit to Launceston’s City Park is always enjoyable. It was extra special in January 2014 because, after many late nights of tinkering I finally had a working Exakta 35mm SLR, and I took my first photos with it there. One of the most important camera designs in the history of photography the Exakta is a classic marque and in its “embossed” Varex IIa guise it is also regarded as one of the prettiest 35mm SLRs ever produced.

Not an easy camera to get to know, using one requires a higher degree than usual of familiarisation as the controls are quite inconventional compared to other cameras. However its worth perservering as the results can be quite unlike those achieved with newer, easier to use kit.
