The Gentleman Is Dead

He opens the door for her

200 of her closest friends walk through

And she follows

Pulls the door behind

Slams it in his face

As he stares

At her

Walking down the stairs

She is lost in a crowd that

Fondles and abuses her

She giggles and smiles

He closes his eyes

Tries to imagine her

in a place where she is respected and recognised

He gives her a bouquet

‘Roses for a rose’

She says,

Flowers smell better when they are stepped on

‘Must be why she smells so good’

She walks away

Everyone teases and grabs at her

She laughs and smirks

Looks at them lovingly

She appreciates how much they express their love for her

He walks to her

Throws a punch to her mouth

For the first time

Her eyes meet his

Her face glows

Her blood red lips say

‘Thank you’

And they kiss
