To Escape

To Escape

Words and wishes
Swimming in my head
As if a whirlpool of destitude
Has taken over.
A hunger with pain for flight.

Reach to the clouds
Where my mind’s eye sits, dwelling
On the pictures revealed to it
By the sorrow that takes my hand
And pulls me into the woods
Where he sits, arms folded, thinking
Of how to cause the waters to flow.
My friend, tell me which way the fox went
With my book of stories.
Those tales of abroad.
The warning signs are here.
They show themselves
To those not blinded by their own worries.
