Artist's Description

Back in May, to coincide with the opening of the first and only National Civil War Museum here in our home town of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, there were organised reencatments of the battles at Newark, at Newark Castle and at the Queen’s Sconce. Newark fell to the Parlimentarians on the 6th of May after a letter was recieved from King Charles who was at the camp in Southwell, a mere 10 miles away. The letter comanded the armies at Newark to surrender. There is a great history of the English Civil War here in Newark, and we were privileged to watch the reenactment groups recreate the drama of the war. I have a number of photos that I have done as Selective Colouring, and I do hope you enjoy them. This is the first, and it represents the fact that in many cases, it was often family members fighting against each other, something that happens in any given Civil War I’m sure.
