That Very Moment

Could this be that very moment?
The one that’s been so long dreaded,
Causing such torment,
Simply from being contemplated.

Will it be worth all the fear?
Accumulated over the years,
As its closeness grows near,
This fear, that’s held so dear.

What if it fulfills it needs?
Becomes everything it could be,
Leaving an overwhelming glee,
That scares everything once believed.

Would it be worth it?
Even if it broke free,
Leaving a heart lonely,
With a true loves yearning.

A price that’ll last a lifetime,
Shadowed memories of a cherished lifeline,
Wishing for the reasons that left laughlines,
Across a face that knew true love at one time.

With that moment,
A life became indebted,
To a feeling never promised,
No matter, how well intended.

But if that moment never came,
Never bringing that magical change,
Leaving things the same,
Who’d be the one to blame?
