A Simple Word

Remember when you were a kid,
There were things you wished you could do,
And somehow did?
Yet, even then there was one that eluded you,
A simple thing that always hid.

It was there in every song,
Feeling it yearning deep in our heart,
For our children who knew no wrong,
We needed this part.

It was one easy word,
Until in reality it would blur,
This thing, so simple and pure,
Until we see the dead all around the world,
Maybe if we listened better to a legend,
When he almost got us to “Imagine”,
A miracle that God tried to send,
In that simple thing again.

One word the world needs to grasp,
So that this is not our last chance,
For our children’s sake,
Let’s gain peace at last.

Artist's Description

One of the smallest words of hope and love we know, yet it eludes us. It is something we’ve dreamed about, prayed for and supposedly fight for, but yet we never attain it. Our children depend on it, as our troops defend it even as they ironically act against it. So, either we are not trying hard enough or other matters such as greed and politics have clouded our judgment, swaying us away from what we really need. Let’s give Peace a chance, this time for real!
