A Mothers Love

With a mother’s love,
That was sometimes tough,
You helped shape us up,
Which as kids, we made that rough.

Through it all you persevered,
Making every moment that we were reared,
A presence lasting through the years.

With a love not always understood,
You taught us the rules under your roof,
Not ever realizing until now that it would,
Shape us for life’s many bumpy roads.

Sometimes being a person feared,
Other times revered,
Always loved over the years,
For all the times you were there.

When we cried,
You made sure our tears were dried,
No matter what we tried,
You were always on our side.

With a mother’s love,
That held us with kid gloves,
With a grace from above,
Only asking in return, our love,
Yours then, now and the years to come, Always love you Mom.

Artist's Description

My Mom and my more than often never saw eye to eye, I was a Dad’s kid. But every time I did anything or ever wanted to do something she was there to back me up, well except when it came to my choice in girlfriends, even though later my taste must have improved. With fights just minutes old, she’d be the one to ask if I was okay and whenever one of us needed help, she’d be the one to find a way even if it meant putting herself out. When she passed away in 2004, I realized too late what I really lost, like most kids do. So this is all yours Mom in case you didn’t hear it when we said goodbye. Love you
