Artist's Description

When Chip first saw the photo on the front page of today’s Lake Ozonia Press, he felt sorry for the mayor. It was a photo of Herman, the leader of the Peanut Burglar Gang and Precious’ boy toy, wearing his signature light tan buckskin gloves while stealing a peanut from the town’s ever diminishing emergency supply when it was being guarded by the aging Mayor Otter. Due to a shortage of funds, the Town Council had decided to protect the town’s peanut supply by using volunteers to guard the peanuts during times when the sheriff or deputy Chip were on break. The old Mayor was the first to volunteer, but everyone knew of his tendency to fall asleep during even the most exciting of times because…well, lets just say the poor dude had a bladder the size of a pea and a prostate gland the size of an orange..REM sleep at night was nearly unattainable.

Chip had just finished watching the latest episode of “Underbelly: A Tale Of Two Cities”, when it hit him. Maybe there was a lot more money involved in the peanut trade than he realized. Even though the Town’s peanut supply was being guarded 24/7, each time Chip showed up for his turn there always seemed to be fewer peanuts. Far fewer than could be explained away by peanut colada consumption. Maybe, just maybe, the sheriff, mayor, and many others were being paid to look the other way.

Suddenly Chip remembered.. While returning to Lake Ozonia from the monastery high in the mountains, he came upon a fox that had accidentally been ensnared while chasing a red squirrel. As it turns out, this was no ordinary fox. This was Sly Lee Fox, the best squirrel hunter in the entire country. Chip helped Sly get out of the trap unharmed. Embarrassed and grateful, Sly told Chip not to hesitate to ask if he ever needed a favor. Now was the time!!! To be continued….
