Artist's Description

Remains of the Andery Bogolubsky’s residence including some residential chambers (1165) and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin (1165, collapsed, rebuilt in 1751) connected with each other by a passageway. Some craftsmen sent by the German King and Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa took part in the construction work at the castle. The place witnessed the murder of Andrey by people closest to him including his wife in 1174 on the staircase which still survives today.
