Artist's Description

The southern side of Alupka Palace has a high portal with deep niche decorated with ornaments, balconies ans slim towers and minarets on the sides, reminding one of a Middle Eastern palace. Churchill stayed here when he attended the Yalta Conference during the last of WWII. Churchill thought that the lion face looked like his face and he wanted Stalin to give him one of the lions, Stalin told Churchill that these statues belong to the Russian people, he could not just pull one up because Churchill fancied it and wanted it, so Churchill had to go home empty handed with the lion that looked like him.
