I live in the Northeast top corner of the State of California ~ 30 miles from Nevada and 50 miles from Oregon. At 5,000 feet elevation, there is an abundance of snow in the winter. I call this place the boondocks since there are mountain lions, deer and herds of antelope roaming free. The mailboxes are at the end of a 4 1/2 mile gravel road. In the winter I only go to town once or twice a month. Often I have walked & carried supplies in the 1/4 mile road to my small cabin. Last year I used Blackie, one of my horses to carry up dog food & groceries from the car I park near the county gravel road. When I can, I use a quad or 4WD tractor. Last year they didn’t even get out.
