Artist's Description

No: 1213
Class: V
Wheel Arrangement: 2-8-2
Weight: 135 Tonne
Build No & Yr: Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn 7782 of 1955.
Location: Pemberton, Western Australia.

V1213 is privately owned and has been restored to operation for use on occasional mainline tours, and is based at Pemberton by the Pemberton Tramway Co.

One of 24 operated by the Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) in the days of steam from 1955 to 1971, primarily for heavy coal trains and general heavy freight traffic. This locomotive now operates for the Pemberton Tramway Company hauling tourist passenger trains.

Since its completion in 1914, originally as a State Saw Mills railway, the line has had a very colourful history. This railway has carried everything imaginable from machinery to royalty, even experiencing an armed payroll robbery. The opportunity to drive the train is also offered by the tramway.
