Greasemonkey Script to automatically create Redbubble links from any page

After the My bubble stats exporter, I thought I might tackle something that I think could be quite useful to a lot of people.

Here’s another GreaseMonkey script (for Firefox) that will allow you to take any link or image on the page and quickly grab some text (from a popup) to paste straight into a Redbubble comment/forum/work description etc

To generate the popup information you simply need to hold down Ctrl+Shirt then click the link:

The following shows what you get under different circumstances:

This shows an ‘image link’. The target url and image have both been taken. You’ll notice a description underneath which is in bold. This is taken from the alt attribute of the image (if it exists), otherwise the title attribute of the link (if it exists)

This shows a simple image (without a link). The image location has just been taken. A description will appear underneath as above if the alt attribute of the image is present.

Text links are basically taken as is and presented in the standard format.

NOTE: The script was adapted from another GreaseMonkey script called LinkQuery which uses the same keystroke combination so if you happen to use it you’ll need to uninstall it to use this.

I’ve also set the script to work by default on only – as there is a slight overhead in the browser each time you load the page. If you want to make it available for any page you browse or on specific sites (e.g. if you put images on flickr or photobucket etc) then once you’ve installed do the following in Firefox:

- Tools —> GreaseMonkey —> Manage User Scripts…
- Select the ‘RedBubble link converter’
- Click ‘Add..’ in the ‘Included Pages’ area on the right of the window and add any websites you want to include (with an * at the end)
- If you want the script to work on all sites then just type ‘*’ (without the quotes)
- When you refresh the page in one of the sites you’ve added you should be able to use the script there too.

I’ve noticed a few places on Redbuble where things don’t quite work – such as on challenge voting pages. Basically it may not work on links that have script behind them already.

Download and install the script from
Happy linking :)
